Yep... he made the smart wager based on his position. Looking at the stats

he got more questions right (25 vs 21) and neither he nor the new champion missed a question. In the end she got two Daily Doubles, both in Double Jeopardy, and got them both right including one where she bet it all. She beat him at his own game; get a ton of questions right, find the DDs, and bet big when you do.
